Hi, this is my first post in Samsung Galaxy S forum.
Last year, I shared a hack to get higher data link speed through HSDPA network in this thread.

My Motorola RAZR XT910's screen broke, and currently, I am using Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000), Stock ASIA firmware Ginger Bread 2.3.6 ZSJW4; rooted using Framaroot.
Here, I attached the options file, which need to be copied to /system/etc/ppp directory. I am NOT showing how to copy/put the file to the directory. Reboot your phone, and good luck.:)
If you get bad results, we already discussed it in the thread. Not every telco's system support the data compression and network conditions, so the results may varies.
Here, in my country, Malaysia, Celcom 3G network supports HSDPA upto 3.6Mbps, and with the this hack, at best I got DL/UL 5.5/2.3 Mbps on SGS, and 6.7/1.7 Mbps on RAZR XT910.

Thank you.
